COMMAND

    /usr/sbin/ping

SYSTEMS AFFECTED

    AIX 3.2, 4.1 and 4.2

PROBLEM

Bryan P. Self posted following. There appears to be a buffer
overflow vulnerablilty in /usr/sbin/ping on AIX 4.2 running on
PPC platforms. Exploit follows. This exploit will give a
#rootshell# by overwriting a buffer in /usr/sbin/ping while ping
is setuid to root. This exploit is designed for AIX 4.x on PPC
    platform.
