COMMAND

    kernel

SYSTEMS AFFECTED

    IRIX 6.2 (6.3?)

PROBLEM

J.A. Gutierrez found following. If you export CD, you can cause
system crash. NFS-exporting an iso9660 CD will crash the
NFSserver if you have NFS Rollup 295x installed. So, exporting a
cdrom (say /CDROM) from an irix6.3 (gna) box to a linux box
(blubb) (SuSE 6.0, kernel 2.0.36) can lead to a crash of the irix
    box.

        blubb:/> mount gna:/CDROM /mnt2
        blubb:/> cd /mnt2/foo/bar
        blubb:/> ls
        hihihi.rpm
        blubb:/> rpm -i hihihi.rpm

    and booom... gna goes down.

SOLUTION

This is bug 593967. The powers that be have decided not to axe
this patch. Note that very few CDs *from SGI* is on this format,
in particular no patch or OS CDs. This bugs has not been fixed
in patch 3049 (the next NFSrollup) either.
