COMMAND

    MS Exchange

SYSTEMS AFFECTED

    Win NT with Exchange 4.0 & 5.0

PROBLEM

Micheal Espinola found following. There is an inherent bug in
Exchange Server 4.0 and 5.0. MIME and UUENCODE coded messages
are both effected by being subject to a non-configurable default
line truncation flaw. Although there are settings for word rap
    length, they have no effect.

Outgoing mail containing lines greater than 72 characters via the
IMS connector are subject to forced carriage returns after the
72nd character. SR1 does not fix this.

SOLUTION

MS has a hot-fix in the works, though they will not give any
information on whether or not this setting will be GUI
adjustable, registry adjustable, or possibly even neither.
