COMMAND

    Service Pack 5

SYSTEMS AFFECTED

    Win NT 3.51

PROBLEM

Let's say you have NT domain, with a PDC running NT4.0 BDC's are
mixed NT3.51/4.0 systems. Start the user manager for domains on
a 4.0 system, select a user and make sure the dial-in permissions
are set. Next, take an NT3.51 box, start user manager for
domains and select that same user. Here, there's no option to
set dial-in permissions (OK, that's normal for an NT3.51 system).

But: Now change something in the user settings, the description
for example. Walk back to your NT4.0 system, check that user's
dial-in permissions again and..... They are gone.

This happens whenever any change is made in the NT 3.51 User
Manager so you may have all NT 3.51 SP5 (no NT 4). Credit goes
    to Bhavesh M. Upadhyaya.

SOLUTION

The problem is with 3.51 Service Pack 5. MS changed the
executable for User Manager. They forgot to add in the code for
RAS. So, whenever you change a user and save the data, the RAS
permissions get dropped. Solution: Grab the .exe from the
    original CD.
