Window 2000(Beta)
PROBLEM
Anthony Lee found following. He found the following Y2K problem
in Win2000.
1. Schedule Tasks group. When we open on schedule task(e.g.
backup) at the tab of schedule. It display "At 8:00 on
99-3-28" not "At 8:00 on 1999-3-28" that express the internal
of program is calculate the time is by "99-3-28" not
"1999-3-28" it will cause problem at 2000. The problem will
recognize the 2000-1-1. The regular schedule tasks have been
finished. And not work at 2000-1-1. Because the time is
store by 99-3-28.
2. Certificate Manager group. We find the valid date of
certificate is as "00-3-27" not "2000-3-27". When we use
different certificate coming from different certificate
organization in one intranet. It will exist potential
vulnerablity. Because the server will check the another's
certificate's valid date.
3. Event Viewer group. When we open this program. We find the
record of events are marked as "99-3-28" not "1999-3-28".
Because a lot of system administrating software is based on
event log. If its expression is as "99-3-28" it will ignore
the intrude event across 2000-1-1. And can not make alert to
administrator so it will be used by intruder.
4. At printer job. We find when we print a job to printing pool.
And it display "99-3-28 12:02" in "submitted" column. We
think it must revise to "1999-3-28 12:02"
5. In property of files. When we click one file. And its
property will display at left place under image like "Modified
99-3-28 12:30:20" not "Modified 1999-3-28 12:30:20" we think
this is inconsistant with its properities page.
SOLUTION
Nothing yet, but still - it's Beta software.
